HARRISON COUNTY —
Indiana State Police has released the name of the man fatally shot in a Ramsey home Monday morning.
Joe Johnson, 33, of Louisville, was pronounced dead at his girlfriend’s home at 1365 Ind. 64. after authorities arrived to the home about 9:30 a.m. moments after he was killed. Johnson is believed to have been shot during a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, ISP reported, whose name is not being disclosed by ISP as the investigation is continuing. The woman has not been charged, and the case will be handed over to the Office of the Harrison County Prosecutor when the ISP completes its investigation. Sgt. Jerry Goodin with ISP said the man and woman were believed to be the only two people in the home when the shooting took place. The firearm used in the shooting was recovered by investigators.
An autopsy was completed this morning at the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office in Kentucky.
“The preliminary autopsy results were able to determine Joe Johnson died from a single gunshot wound from a handgun to the chest area,” ISP reported in a press release. “The autopsy results will not be complete until toxicology results return which typically takes up to six weeks.”
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call Monday at 9:25 a.m. of a man shot, ISP reported. A trooper from the ISP Post at Sellersburg was in the area and responded to the scene.
When the trooper arrived, he found a female on the front porch of the home and a male subject deceased inside of the home.
