Lane restrictions ahead for Old Vincennes in Floyd County

Work to be done during spring break

FLOYD COUNTY — One lane of Old Vincennes Road will be closed next week due to necessary cuts.

Steve Byerley, with Dan Cristiani Excavating, told the Floyd County Commissioners Tuesday that he wants to do the work next week since school will be out for spring break. The commissioners agreed.

“If we put it off we will be out there during bus traffic,” Byerley told the commissioners.

Old Vincennes Road improvements include lane widening and other work to help with safety and sight distance. Road cuts will also have to be made to North Luther Road.

“It would be a real disaster if school was going on and we tried to do this,” Commissioner  Chuck Freiberger said.

COMPUTER UPDATE

The county is in the process of replacing 200 computers. The new computers were purchased through a five-year lease with Dell. Payments are $3,992.51 a month or $47,910 a year. After the lease runs out, the county will own the computers.

The commissioners approved setting up a non-reverting fund to pay the lease, contingent on Auditor Scott Clark giving it an OK.

EDWARDSVILLE GATEWAY

Floyd County Planner and Director of Operations Don Lopp told the commissioners he will provide an update to the Edwardsville Gateway project at their second meeting in April.

On April 26, the third annual Edwardsville spring cleaning event will be held.

ELECTION UPDATE

The commissioners approved Clerk Christy Eurton’s request to keep the City-County Building open from 4 to 7 p.m., April 28 through May 1 for early voting, and on the two Saturday’s before the May 6 primary — April 26 and May 3 — from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for voting.

ATTORNEY HIRED

Justin Endres has been hired as the Floyd County Redevelopment attorney. He will be paid $150 an hour.
