Award-winning documentary to be shown next week in Sellersburg

'Ghosts in Our Machine' focuses on plight of rescued animals

SELLERSBURG — A documentary about how humans interact and treat the world’s animal population will be shown at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Ivy Tech Community College.

“The Ghosts in Our Machine,” which has won numerous awards, illuminates the plight of many animals rescued from and living within the machine of our modern world, from captive foxes to rescued dairy cows.

Award-winning filmmaker Liz Marshall directed the through the heart and lens of photojournalist Jo-Anne McArthur. The film follows McArthur over the course of a year as she documents several animal stories in parts of Canada, the U.S. and in Europe. Each story and photograph is a window into global animal industries: Food, fashion, entertainment and biomedical research, according to a news release.

The documentary will be shown in the college’s Horseshoe Auditorium, 8204 Ind. 311, Sellersburg. Free tickets are available at
