Hosparus Dancing with the Stars

The seventh-annual United We Stand Fashion Show and Dancing with the Stars event will be 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at Huber’s Orchard & Winery, Plantation Hall, 19816 Huber Road, Starlight. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $75 per person for dinner and soft drinks, This event features a fashion show, auctions and local celebrity dancers competing for a great cause. For information, contact Vanessa Braswell at 502-777-0098 or vbraswell@hosparus.org. Proceeds from United We Stand will benefit Hosparus Southern Indiana patients and their families.

To purchase tickets or donate on behalf of your favorite dancer, visit hosparus.org. Guests also can donate at the event. This year’s celebrity dancers include: registered nurse Megan Cahill Batliner, Norton Healthcare; Lora Clark, executive director, F M Home Health Care; Dr. Christopher J. Day, diagnostic radiologist, Radiology Associates of Southern Indiana and Priority Radiology of New Albany; Roxanne Kimbell, personal fitness trainer, STOTT Pilates certified instructor; Louie Jensen, director of high schools, New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corp.; Jennifer L. Thompson, managing partner, Palmer Thompson Law, LLC; and Ben Wehmiller, manufacturing support manager, Samtec, Inc.

Movie night coming to library

All ages are welcome at the Clarksville Branch of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library,  1312 Eastern Blvd., Clarksville, from 5 to 7 p.m., Aug. 27, for Craft and a Movie Night.

A recently released PG rated movie will  be shown, followed by creating simple silhouettes using magazine strips.

CLARK COUNTY

Budget hearings continue

The Clark County Council will hold special meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 27 and 28, beginning at noon each day, to conduct budget workshops for the 2014 county budget.

The meetings will be held in Room 418 of the Clark County Government Building, 501 E. Court Ave., Jeffersonville.

Learn about food preservation

Nancy Hudson, HHS Agent for the Clark County Purdue Extension Office is hosting a program on The Basics of Food Preservation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Charlestown Library. 51 Clark Road, Charlestown.

There is no charge for the program, but preregistration would be appreciated. To register, call 812-256-4591.
