Sixth Street ramp to close in Jeffersonville

LOUISVILLE — The following closures and lane restrictions are expected the rest of this week and next week in connection with construction on the downtown crossing of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

On Monday, Sept. 30, a permanent closure will go into effect in Jeffersonville. As part of the widening of Interstate 65 northbound, Walsh Construction crews are scheduled to close the Sixth Street ramp in Jeffersonville. The ramp is expected to close after 9 p.m. Monday along with Broadway Street from Court Avenue to Sixth Street.

The detour route for drivers accessing I-65 north will be Court Avenue to Spring Street to the 10th Street ramp.

Closures and lane restrictions for work that is underway in Louisville includes the closure of the left lane and left parking lane of Jefferson Street, from Jackson Street to Preston Street. The lanes are expected to be closed through Monday, Sept. 30, for work on a temporary signal.

The right lane of Preston Street, from Market Street to Jefferson Street, is expected to be closed through Monday, Sept. 30, for work on a temporary signal.

Lane closures are expected on Witherspoon Street, from Clay Street to River Road, through Monday, Sept. 30, for utility work and pile driving. Flaggers will be directing traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and one lane of traffic will be moving in each direction the rest of the day.

The right lane and right parking lane on Market Street, from Jackson Street to Hancock Street, are scheduled to be closed through Monday, Sept. 30 for pile driving in the area.

The right lane on Witherspoon Street, from Clay Street to Preston Street, is scheduled to be closed through Friday, Oct. 4, for utility relocation and crane placement.

Work scheduled for next week includes the closure of Jackson Street, from Jefferson Street to Market Street, Monday, Sept. 30, through Friday, Oct. 11, for pile driving in the area.
