Crash claims life of Georgetown man

GEORGETOWN — A blue 2004 Dodge Ram driven, by Eric R. Paris, Georgetown, traveling east on John Pectol Road around 5:35 Saturday morning, left the roadway and struck numerous trees, according to a release from the Floyd County Combined Accident Reconstruction Team (CART). Paris was pronounced dead at the scene.

High speed was a contributing factor in the collision and drug and alcohol tests are pending, according to the release.

When officers arrived at the scene they determined that Paris was the only occupant of the truck.

CART was formed in July 2007, by Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson, to investigate all fatality crashes and those involving serious bodily injury that may result in criminal charges. CART Team members have additional training in crash reconstruction and scene diagramming.

Agencies assisting were, Greenville Township Fire Department, Georgetown Police Dept, New Albany Police Dept, Indiana State Police, Yellow Ambulance, and the Floyd County Coroner’s Office
