FLOYD COUNTY —
Two Louisville residents were taken to Unversity of Louisville Hospital after the pickup truck they were driving in left a roadway and rolled down an embankment in Floyd County about 3 p.m. Friday.
Floyd County Sheriff’s Department Maj. Jeff Topping said Stephanie Short, 30, the driver of the 1999 Dodge truck, was taken by ambulance for unknown injuries, and passenger Charles Blackwell, 47, was airlifted for possible internal injuries.
Topping said Short said she experienced brake trouble after coming down the steep incline of Farnsley Knob Road, and couldn’t come to a stop at the intersection of Seven Mile Lane, about 9 miles southwest of downtown New Albany.
The woman made a turn onto Seven Mile Lane, but the vehicle left the left side of the road soon after the intersection, Topping said.
New Chapel Fire Department also responded to the scene.
Topping said he doesn’t know how long Short and Blackwell would have waited for first responders, if a young man fishing in the area had not been nearby to report the incident.
