‘STUCK’ film screening to take place in Clarksville

The film “STUCK” (www.stuckdocumentary.com) details the terrible conditions in third-world orphanages and highlights the challenges, but also steadfast love and dedication of three families as they wind their way through the adoption process. A screening of the film will be at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, July 27,  at St. Anthony’s Social Hall, 316 N. Sherwood Ave., Clarksville.

At its core, “STUCK” is a love story and has received accolades across the country for bringing the subject of international adoption to the forefront.

One of the families featured in the documentary film is Lori Green LeRoy and her husband. Lori, a 1991 graduate of Providence High School and a Jeffersonville native, and her family now live in Indianapolis. They fought for three-and-a-half years to bring their son home from Vietnam. They lived in southern Vietnam for five weeks while waiting for the adoption to be processed, and cannot forget the children they met on the street or had to leave behind in the orphanage. They never gave up, coming home to Indiana in December of 2011 with their son, who is now 5 and thriving.

The event is a fundraiser to build an education center for street children in Ca Mau, the Vietnamese province where the LeRoy’s son was born. The LeRoys  are partnering with a wonderful organization, We Love Kids, www.welove-kids.org, which has established a partnership with a local church in Ca Mau. There is already a child-sponsorship program in place to help send children to school.
