SERVSAFE exam being offered
The Indiana Restaurant Association and the Purdue Extension Service-Clark County are partnering to offer the ServSafe Managers Exam on Thursday, Oct. 11. The successful completion of an exam approved by the Conference for Food Protection is required of one food handler per establishment location.
SERVSAFE is recognized and accepted by state, county and municipal health authorities that require sanitation training of foodservice managers. Developed by the industry, the SERVSAFE focus is on the practical application of food safety knowledge.
The exam will begin at 2 p.m. at the Purdue Extension Service, 9608 Ind. 62, Charlestown. There is no class, only the exam will be offered. However, a text book can be ordered from the Indiana Restaurant Association prior to the exam. The costs involved are: Exam — $50; book — $48.

Bennett forum coming to Ivy Tech
Tony Bennett, the Republican candidate for state superintendent of public instruction, will answer questions and give his position on various issues at a public forum at 1 p.m. Oct. 24 at Ivy Tech Community College.
The forum, sponsored by Leadership Southern Indiana and One Southern Indiana, will be held in the Community Room of the Horseshoe Foundation Assembly Center in Ogle Hall. No registration is required to attend, but questions can be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org

Floyd Action Network, promoting resident participation in some of Indiana’s best parks and recreation facilities, presents “Park It! — New Albany-Floyd County Parks Offers Fun for All,” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Division Street School, 1803 Conservative St., New Albany.
Roger Jeffers, superintendent of New Albany-Floyd County Parks and Recreation, will share the latest plans for parks in New Albany and Floyd County, including the progress toward building the aquatic center. Learn the history and the background stories of designing and building the parks in New Albany and Floyd County. All who attend this free workshop are invited to share their own visions and ideas for recreation centers.

Annual Kiwanis pancake breakfast
The Kiwanis Club of Historic New Albany will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at The Grand Theatre in downtown New Albany.
Table sponsorship is $300 and you receive 20 tickets for an all-you-can eat pancake breakfast. Individual tickets are $10 each.

Silver Creek to raffle U of L tickets
Silver Creek Middle School and High School football programs are sponsoring a raffle to win two suite tickets to the University of Louisville vs. South Florida game Oct. 20.
The drawing will be Oct. 8 at halftime of the junior varsity football game.
