Time Warner completes acquisition of Insight

Email addresses for Insight customers likely to change

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Time Warner Cable has completed its approximately $3 billion acquisition of Insight Communications.

Starting today, the company is the new provider of local cable, Internet and voice services for Southern Indiana and Louisville customers.

For now, customers can expect business as usual, according to spokesperson Mary Jo Green. As the nature of the cable system is assessed, additional products, new equipment and other services could be rolled out, she said.

Channel lineup or rate changes aren’t planned in the immediate future. Customers will, however, begin to see the Time Warner Cable name on building signs, employee uniforms and in customer communications in the coming months.

The fate of email addresses is still unknown at this point, but Green said a transition plan would be implemented. In previous acquisitions by Time Warner, she said, acquired customers have had to change their addresses, but the company has tried to give them plenty of time to do so and provided a forwarding service.

About 760,000 customers throughout Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio are being added to Time Warner’s service.

“Today we are pleased to welcome new customers, new employees and new communities to Time Warner Cable,” Chairman and CEO Glenn Britt said in a press release.  “We are excited to begin building on Insight’s successes and serving our new customers.”

In Indiana, the switch affects cities and towns including Borden, Charlestown, Clarksville, Corydon, Crandall, Crothersville, Floyds Knobs, Georgetown, Greenville, Henryville, Jeffersonville, Lanesville, Lexington, Marysville, Memphis, Nabb, New Albany, New Salisbury, New Washington, Otisco, Palmyra, Pekin, Scottsburg and Sellersburg.

The transition will be gradual to ensure a positive customer experience, the press release said. For more information on Time Warner Cable and its products and services visit
