Bicentennial ball ticket deadline nears
“New Albany Loves You through the Decades” dinner and dance gala will be held Jan. 26 at The Grand. Those who attend are invited to dress in their favorite era style of clothing.
Develop New Albany is sponsoring the gala, and with help from donors such as the Horseshoe Foundation of Floyd County, is offering a dinner catered by The Grand and a night of entertainment for $50 per person.
The Jamey Aebersold Band will play during the cocktail hour of the gala, which begins at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and live entertainment will follow including a musical performance by Lindsay Lane and Axis.
Tickets for the event must be purchased by Friday, Jan. 18. They can be purchased online by visiting the website developna.org, or in person from Kristiansen at MainSource Bank’s 100 E. Spring St. location. For more information, call Develop New Albany at 812-941-0018.
New Albany Winter Farmers Market starts Saturday
The New Albany Winter Farmers Market will open Saturday, Jan. 19, and be in operation every other week through April.
Located at the New Albany fire station at the corner of Fourth and Market streets, the winter farmers market will be open from 10 a.m. to noon every other Saturday.

Art program beginning this year
Beginning in 2013, the Jeffersonville Township Public Library will be offering a continuing monthly series titled “ArtSpace: Learn Create Enjoy.”
To start off this series, Artist Ray Day will be showcased from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19.
A teacher for 34 years at Our Lady of Providence High School, Day developed Studio Arts and Theatre Arts programs, produced and directed drama and musical productions, taught Acting and Theatre Production and served as designer and technical director through 1988.
