NORTH VERNON — Floyd Central swimming coach Joe Perkins won his 100th boys’ dual meet as the Highlanders’ boss last Saturday in a 99-81 victory at Jennings County.

Collecting victories for Floyd Central were Eli Anderson, Noble Guyon, Brendon Smith, Grant Anderson, Marc McCormick, Colin Lyell and Nathan Manias.

“The boys posted 10 season-best times coming out of the [winter] break,” Perkins said. “Jennings County has a very nice boys’ team. There was some great racing during the meet. I was pleased with our effort on the day.”

The Highlander girls’ swimming team won its dual meet over the Panthers, 132-53. Winning for Floyd Central were Layah Jones, Lauren Batliner, Caitlin Davenport, Jessica Ingram, Maryn Meldrum, Meg Taylor and Amy McCormick.

“[The girls posted] seven best times on the season,” Perkins said. “The girls have come off a couple of difficult weeks of training during the Christmas break. Overall, it was a good performance from the standpoint of racing tired.”

Both Floyd Central teams will travel to Seymour for a dual meet this coming Saturday.
