HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' GOLF: Hornets win three-way at Champions Pointe

Davidson takes medalist honor

MEMPHIS — Luke Davidson shot a three-over-par 39 to lead Henryville to an easy three-way victory over Rock Creek Academy and Austin on Monday at Champions Pointe Golf Club.

Davidson out-shot Rock Creek’s Brett Kastetler by three strokes to take the medal for the nine-hole round. Charlie Lefebvre shot a 46, Mason Edwards a 49 and Bailey Reister a 51 for the balanced Hornets, who shot a 185 as a team.

“Luke played well today. He’s been consistent all season,” Henryville coach Robin Embry said. “The other three let a hole or two get away from them. Overall, we’ve made a big improvement this season. Hopefully, we’ll play well Thursday and have a big day next Monday [at the Madison Sectional].”

The Lions, who were 17 strokes behind Henryville, also got a 43 from Jeremiah Wilkinson, who graduated as valedictorian later Monday evening. Max Vogen finished with a 53 and Gabe Pearson shot a 64 for Rock Creek.

Austin was paced by Case Carter’s 48.
