NEW ALBANY —
Jeff/GRC’s 9-10-year-old baseball team improved to 3-0 and handed Highlander Youth Recreation its first loss with a four-inning 13-0 victory at Mt. Tabor Park on Wednesday.
Dylan Ray Thomas and Gavin Seebold needed only 36 pitches combine for a three-hit shutout.
Jeff hasn’t surrendered a run yet in the tournament.
“We’ve pitched well and we’re playing good defense,” Jeff manager Chuck Watson said. “And our sticks are coming alive at times.”
Jared Flaten and Eli Watson both went 2-for-2 in the win. Both scored a pair of runs had drove one in. Logan Ungren went 1-for-2 and had two RBIs.

• Ellis lifts Jeff/GRC past New Albany: Jack Ellis hit a walkoff grand slam to help Jeff/GRC win a battle of unbeaten team, 5-3 over New Albany. Jeff is now tied atop the 11-12 standings with Silver Creek at 3-0. At 2-1, New Albany is third and has already clinched a semifinal berth.

• New Albany, Jeff headed to state: With one team dropping out of the upcoming state tournament, New Albany and Jeff/GRC will both be playing in the state tournament at Clarksville by virtue of their district records. Jeff is 4-0 and New Albany is 3-1 in district play.
The state tournament is scheduled for July 25-30. The two teams will face off following the state tournament to determine a district champion.
