Kimmels fare well at New Jersey road course

Will and Frank Kimmel each finished in the top five in Sunday’s Barbera’s Autoland 150 in the ARCA Racing Series at the New Jersey Motorsports Park road course in Millville, N.J.

Will Kimmel, a Sellersburg resident and Frank Kimmel’s nephew, posted his second consecutive fourth-place finish in a row as he led three laps. The younger Kimmel has three top-five finishes and four top-10s this season.

Frank Kimmel wound up fifth as he stayed atop the ARCA point standings with an 180-point lead over Mason Mingus, who placed eighth on Sunday. Kimmel, a Clarksville native, came up short of breaking ARCA’s all-time wins record and will get another shot at the mark on Friday at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa.

Pole sitter Andrew Ranger won the race, followed by Tom Hessert and Chase Elliott. Henryville resident Darrell Basham ended up 23rd.
