While the rain washed away Wednesday’s play at the District 5 Little League Tournament at Clarksville, Jeff/GRC’s 11-year-old baseball team was declared an 8-0 winner over Highlander Youth Recreation behind Gavin Seebold’s no-hitter.
Jeff’s victory began on Tuesday and was stopped due to lightning. Although the game was official through five innings, the district attempted to finish the game tonight before the downpour canceled it again. The contest was then deemed to be completed.
Seebold through four innings and struck out 10 HYR batters.
“I was pleased with the pitching of Gavin,” GRC coach Chuck Watson said. “We started getting our sticks going after the first inning.”
Jeff scored three runs in both the second and fourth innings. Jared Flaten went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple. He drove in two runs and scored twice.
Also for Jeff, Dylan-Ray Thomas was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Kyle Tincher went 2-for-2 with two driven home and Eli Watson had a double and scored twice.
Jeff/GRC is scheduled to play New Albany today. However, an updated schedule was requested following Wednesday’s rainouts. At deadline, revised schedules had not been received.
• New Albany holds commanding lead: New Albany led HYR 14-1 with one out in the bottom of the fourth inning Tuesday when the lightning delayed the end of the contest.
New Albany needs two outs to complete the victory. It is scheduled to resume today at 5:30.
