H.S. FOOTBALL: Cougars rally to beat Creek

Phelps’ FG at buzzer wins it for North Harrison

RAMSEY — Brooks Howell connected with Drew Sherrow on a 14-yard TD pass to pull Silver Creek even with North Harrison at 28-28 with 4:53 left.

The Dragons left North Harrison too much time.

The Cougars took the ball, drove down the field and set up Jack Phelps’ 22-yard field goal as time expired to give North Harrison its second straight win after an 1-4 start.

The Cougars rushed for 299 yards on 47 carries, including touchdown runs of 50, 10 and 63 from Brandon Craig.

A Craig touchdown gave the Cougars a 6-0 lead after one quarter, but Bobby Haines’ 41-yards TD run and Cameron Cook’s PAT gave Creek its first lead early in the second quarter. After Craig’s second score, Howell hit Austin Hasting on a 35-yard scoring strike to get the Dragons within 14-13 at the break.

Creek took the lead again with 4:11 to go in the third on a Howell-to-Cook 10-yard score, but Craig broke loose for a 63-yard TD run with 2:19 left in the third and it was tied at 21-apiece heading into the final quarter.

Austin Nevil scored the Cougars’ fourth rushing touchdown from 4 yards out to give North Harrison the lead against with 7:25 left before the Howell-to-Sherrow TD that evened the score again.

Howell completed 13 of his 22 pass attempts for 187 yards in the loss.
