COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Grenadiers clinch KIAC regular-season title

IUS is 21-1 in league play and has won 29 of 30

NEW ALBANY — IU Southeast’s softball team swept Berea College on Saturday to clinch the regular-season KIAC championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference Tournament.

With the sweep, the Grenadiers improved to 21-1 in league play and have won 29 of their last 30 games overall.

In Saturday’s opener, Jordan Batliner went 3 for 3 with three runs and three RBIs and was the winning pitcher in IU Southeast’s 8-0 triumph. She allowed just four Berea hits in the complete-game shutout.

Brookelyn Visker was 2 for 3 and scored a pair of runs.

In the 8-3 win in the nightcap, junior third baseman Ashley Benson went 2 for 2 with a run and two knocked in and senior catcher Shauna Gramig went 2 for 3 and scored twice.

Jenna Swain gave up two earned runs on three hits and struck out eight Berea batters in the win.
