AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: Cockerham leads Floyds Knobs past Madison, 14-0

North Harrison pitcher gives up two hits in six innings for Post 42

FLOYDS KNOBS — North Harrison product Tyler Cockerham was solid on the mound and at the plate on Tuesday at Highlander Field, leading Floyds Knobs American Legion Post 42 to a 14-0 victory over Madison.

Cockerham improved to 2-0 in a starting role, as he pitched six scoreless innings of two-hit ball. He struck out three and walked one. At the plate, Cockerham smacked a double and a triple.

“Tyler threw the ball well today and did a nice job working ahead in the count,” Floyds Knobs coach Ricky Romans said. “Outside of a few baserunning mistakes, we played a solid overall game.”

Post 42’s Josh Wenning, also from North Harrison, went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Floyds Knobs’ Collin Book, another North Harrison product, went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs.

Floyds Knobs (15-1) started play in the Bosse Field Throwback Tournament on Thursday in Evansville. Post 42 will play Blissfield, Mich., today in the tourney.
