AUTO RACING: Kimmel places 22nd at Bristol

Busch wins Nationwide race

BRISTOL, Tenn. — Sellersburg resident Will Kimmel recorded a top-25 finish in his first start at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday.

The Silver Creek High School graduate placed 22nd in the Drive To Stop Diabetes 300 at the half-mile track. It was the second of five NASCAR Nationwide Series races that Kimmel is competing in this year for Mooresville, N.C.-based TriStar Motorsports.

Kimmel finished the race six laps down to the winner, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standout Kyle Busch. Rounding out the top five were Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick, Ryan Blaney and Matt Kenseth.

Kimmel’s first Nationwide Series race this season came on March 1 at Phoenix International Raceway where he finished 33rd.

TriStar Motorsports has yet to determine the final three Nationwide Series races that Kimmel will run this season.
