HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Highlanders improve to 9-0 with 12-1 win on Wednesday

FC’s Cato, Dreher each go 2-for-2

FLOYDS KNOBS — On Wednesday, the Floyd Central softball team stayed undefeated with a 12-1 victory in five innings over North Harrison at Floyd Central Field.

The Highlanders’ Caroline Cato and Katelin Dreher each went 2-for-2. Cato had five RBIs, while Dreher and teammate Regan Hadley each scored three times.

Floyd Central pitcher Kassie King got the win in the circle, upping her record to 3-0.

NEXT: Floyd Central (9-0) at Jasper Invitational, today and Saturday.

BASEBALL

• Eastern falls at South Central: On Wednesday, Eastern suffered a 6-2 loss at South Central. Musketeer senior Kaleb Nicholson was the losing pitcher, giving up six runs (one earned) on six hits with five strikeouts and five walks.

NEXT: Eastern at Silver Creek, Monday.

BOYS’ TRACK

• FC second at NA Relays: Floyd Central finished second in the New Albany Relays on Thursday. New Albany placed third and Jeffersonville ended up fourth.

Bedford North Lawrence won the meet. No results were reported at press time.

NEXT: Floyd Central will host Crawford County, North Harrison, Tuesday; New Albany at Louisville Premier Classic, next Friday; Jeff at Louisville Male Invitational, Saturday.
