• Dragons fall to Madison: Host Silver Creek suffered its first loss of 2013 in a 4-1 setback to Madison.
Noah Spencer connected on the Dragons’ lone goal on a first-half penalty kick. Creek keeper John Osterhoudt made six saves.
“We did not show up tonight. Madison won nearly every ball in the air and every 50-50 ball,” Dragons’ coach Colin Bell said. “They simply wanted it more than us. Hopefully, the boys can put this game behind them and focus on the next one.”

• Dragons win tri-meet at Wooded View: Silver Creek fired a 188 to win a triangular meet on Tuesday at Wooded View Golf Course against Southwestern (239) and host Clarksville (263).
The Dragons’ Charlotte Seaton earned medalist honors with a 43. Teammate Kaela Roberts shot a 47, while Creek’s Lily Smith shot a 48. Miranda DeKorte paced the Generals with a 55.

• Pirates’ Knoebel sets school record: Charlestown senior Marissa Knoebel broke the school’s nine-hole school record on Monday at Hidden Creek Golf Club during a dual match with North Harrison.
Knoebel fired a 37 to earn medalist honors. The previous record was 39, which was shot by former Pirates’ Cathy Donahue in 2003 and April Scott in 2007.
Also for Charlestown, freshman Kalsie Coomer carded a season-low 62.

• Jeff strong at Kingery Hokum Karem: The Jeff girls’ team had three medalist teams in the Darrell Kingery Hokum Karem on Tuesday at Silver Creek Primary School in Sellersburg.
Cat Patton and Josie Noel was the fastest Red Devil team, placing 10th. The Jeff tandem of Maddie Gavin and Candea Smith finished 13th, and teammates Heather Nicholas and Hamilton Dickey ended up 23rd.
The Jeff boys finished 12th out of 13 teams. The Red Devil pair of Caleb Boutell and James McKinney led Jeff in 38:36.
