H.S. FOOTBALL: Several local players named All-HHC

Payton, Klingsmith both named All-Conference running backs

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Four New Albany Bulldogs, three Floyd Central Highlanders and three players from Jeffersonville were named first-team All-Hoosier Hills Conference by the league’s coaches.

New Albany had two players from its high-powered offense in running back Tuwan Payton and center Braxton Bragg. On defense, defensive lineman Javier Santiago was named to the first team. Also, Bulldog place kicker Vincent Falcone was named the kicking specialist.

For Floyd Central, which finished second in the conference to eventual Class 4A state champion Columbus East, linebacker Chase Herron, tackle Aaron Smith and running back Gaige Klingsmith earned first-team honors.

Jeffersonville first teamers are tight end Dionte Allen, nose tackle Joseph Simmons and safety Damin Smith.

Local defensive players making the honorable mention lists are Jeffersonville defensive end Dalton Adkins, Jeff linebacker David Morales, New Albany linebacker Nick Haley and New Albany defensive back Antawon Swims.

Defensively, Jeff tackle Tevin Furtick and running back Austin Hines and Floyd Central quarterback Colton Kimm made the honorable mention team.

Ten-time defending champion East led the list with 10 Olympians given first-team honors and another three named honorable mention.
