> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Charlestown’s Carly Price put together a solid outing on the hill to lead the Pirates past the visiting Clarksville Generals on Thursday.

“Carly pitched a gem of a game,” Charlestown coach Kevin Zollman said. “My girls also played great defense behind Carly.”

Price went all seven innings and gave up the two runs on just four hits. She struck out eight Generals and hit one batter on her way to picking up her fourth win of the season.

Price also had a good night at the plate. She led the Charlestown offense by collecting three hits. Sarah Willinger chipped in by driving in two Pirates.

The win puts Charlestown at 7-3 and keep the Pirates unbeaten in the Mid-Southern Conference. They host Seymour on Tuesday.

“We battled the whole game,” Zollman said. “Its really nice to run our conference record to 4-0 and pick up the good win against my old friend coach Hauber.”

Clarksville (2-7) faces another MSC opponent Wednesday when it goes to Brownstown Central.
