SELLERSBURG — Floyd Central and Jeffersonville each advanced to today’s Silver Creek Regional championship match by winning their respective semifinal matches on Tuesday at the Silver Creek High School courts. Today’s title match will start at 4:30 p.m.

The sixth-ranked Highlanders swept the host Dragons in one semifinal, 5-0.

The most competitive match at No. 1 singles was between two of the best players in Southern Indiana. Highlander senior Olivia Boesing rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat the Dragons’ Kat Hebble in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 2 singles, Floyd Central’s Alexis Applegate downed Grace Clayton, 6-1, 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, the Highlander tandem of Katherine Dauby and Erin Patterson knocked off Creek’s Kelsi Scott and Kaitlyn Hawkins, 6-2, 6-3.

Floyd Central No. 3 singles player Christine McCaffrey and the Highlanders’ No. 1 doubles pair of Whitney Batliner and Dana Frank each won 6-0, 6-0.

Jeff defeated archrival New Albany in the other semifinal, 3-2.

The Red Devils (15-7) swept both doubles matches. At the No. 1 spot, Jules Jenks and Emily Lewis beat the Bulldog duo of Lauren Hoffer and Emily Hoffer, 6-1, 6-2. At the No. 2 position, Jeff’s Rachel Williams and Larissa Neville ousted Anne Mattox and Racquel Burch, 6-4, 6-1.

The Red Devils’ only point in singles action happened at the No. 3 spot. Kaitlin Wunsch defeated New Albany’s Rachel Johnson, 6-2, 6-0.

The Kanii twin sisters supplied both points for the Bulldogs. Erin Kanii beat the  Red Devils’ Katie Bowen at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0. Bowen played for injured senior Morgan Reilly, who is out with a strained knee.

At No. 2 singles, Marin Kanii beat Jeff’s Macy Lancaster, 6-0, 6-2.

“It was nice to see the team pull together and have a win without Morgan on the court,” Jeff coach Mark Reilly said.

In the individual singles sectional at Creek on Tuesday, Providence’s Jacqueline Hollkamp defeated Henryville’s Jordan Jeffers, 6-0, 6-0. In the individual doubles sectional, the New Washington tandem of Amanda Kemp and Christen Walker lost to Corydon Central’s Symphony LeJeune and Kayla Uhl, 6-4, 6-1.
