> SOUTHERN INDIANA — ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

• Johnnie Guy (Southern Indiana men’s cross country, North Harrison graduate, So.) — top performance: first at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday in Kenosha, Wis., 31:06; notes: Guy was named the Midwest Region Runner of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Midwest Region team; the Screaming Eagles’ second-place finish earned them a spot in the NCAA Division II national championships.

BORDEN

• Brandon Beam (IU South Bend men’s basketball, So.) — weekly stats: 4.5 points per game, 3-9 field goals, 0-4 3-pointers, 3-5 free throws, two rebounds, two steals; notes: five points in the Titans’ 105-78 loss at IU Southeast on Saturday; team record: 1-3.

• Chris Beam (IU South Bend men’s basketball, Sr.) — weekly stats: 12 points per game, 7-23 field goals, 2-7 3-pointers, 8-8 free throws, five assists, two rebounds, two steals; top performance: 14 points, shooting 4-of-13 from the floor, 1-of-5 from 3-point range and 5-of-5 from the line, game-high five assists and two rebounds in the 68-58 home loss to Siena Heights on Nov. 5; team record: 1-3.

• Brian Eurton (St. Joseph’s men’s cross country, Fr.) — notes: 109th at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday in Kenosha, Wis., 34:13.

• Taylor Thrasher (Kentucky Christian women’s basketball, Fr.) — weekly stats: .5 points per game, 1-3 field goals, four rebounds; notes: four rebounds in the Knights’ 78-29 exhibition loss at Marshall on Nov. 4; team record: 3-1.

• Rachel Boesing (Asbury volleyball, Fr.) — notes: two digs in the Eagles’ 3-0 victory at Brescia on Nov. 4; team records: 32-7 overall, 10-1 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
