Bicentennial Park officially opens Friday in New Albany

NEW ALBANY — The city will hold a ribbon-cutting to formally open the New Albany Bicentennial Park at 5 p.m. Friday, June 7.

The park — located at the corner of Spring and Pearl streets — is touted by city officials as a much-needed installation of green space in downtown New Albany.

Former Mayor Doug England pushed to have the park approved and designed, and current Mayor Jeff Gahan has overseen its construction.

Later that evening, the Bicentennial Summer Concert Series will kick-off at the park at 6 p.m. with performances by Ranger and Riverboys.
