Another home slated for demolition along Kehoe Lane was brought before the Board of Public Works Wednesday.
However this home, which is also located on the 1600 block of Kehoe Lane and across the street from another property that was previously brought before the board for potential demolition, was not given a reprieve.
A complaint was received about the home in December.
Director of Planning and Zoning Shane Corbin said normally the city would build a longer case on a home before recommending it be torn down.
“In this circumstance ... upon visiting this house and looking at it ... immediately it was obvious this house was in awful condition,” he said. “Unlike the house across the street on Kehoe that might have a chance of being rehabbed, this home is beyond any chance.”
A recommendation that the home be demolished was unanimously approved. Funding to tear down the structure will come out of the planning and zoning department’s unsafe building fund and a lien will be placed on the property to try and recover the money.
An insurance renewal for Jeffersonville’s RiverStage was presented and approved at the board of public works meeting Wednesday.
Jerry Rauck, agent of record with ISU Insurance and Investment Group, presented a renewal that totaled $14,625. Last year’s insurance cost was more than $17,000, but covered both RiverStage and RiverStage II.
The city no longer owns RiverStage II, as it was given to Mt. Vernon Barge Service in March in exchange for absolving the city of a docking fee that was being had been charged to store the vessel.
The insurance renewal was unanimously approved.
