Members of the community are asked to nominate and vote for these everyday heroes through March 1 at State winners will be determined by popular vote. A panel of senior care experts will then select a national Salute to Senior Service winner from among the state honorees.

Health care forum set

Community Action of Southern Indiana (CASI) in Jeffersonville has been awarded a grant through the Indiana Association of United Ways to help facilitate the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in Clark, Floyd, Jefferson, Harrison, and Washington counties. A community forum will be from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, at New Albany Housing Authority’s Community Room, 300 Erni Ave., New Albany.

CASI will be educating Hoosiers in these five counties about the Affordable Care Act and health insurance options, including the new Health Insurance Marketplace.

The grant allows for the hiring of two Healthcare Navigators who will host community forums throughout the five counties. Navigators are trained specialists who serve as in-person resources for Hoosiers who want additional assistance in shopping for and enrolling in plans in the Health Insurance Marketplace.

Certain individuals or families may qualify for health insurance subsidies, based on income. Others may qualify for a $0 premium plan or a new kind of tax credit that lowers premiums right away.

More information is available by calling Navigators Joe Welch and Denise Triplett at 812-.288-6451, extensions 2272 and 2281, Marilyn Warren at 812-206-7398, or Phil Ellis at 812-206-7300.
