Funeral services for Billie Jean Watson McCormick, 82, of New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 11, at Graceland Baptist Church, New Albany, with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. She died Wednesday, March 6, 2013.

 She was a charter and the most senior member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany where she was very active serving in various ministries that included the nursery, singing in the choir, and the former president of the W.M.U. She taught junior girls for more than 30 years, was a door greeter as long as her health permitted, and also enjoyed being a part of the church outreach program. She was a faithful warrior of the prayer list, and above all, loved her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. 

She was born Jan. 29, 1931 in Corbin, Ky., to the late Harry and Annie Petrey Watson.  

She is survived by her two wonderful children, Phil “Bubba” McCormick  and his wife, Denise, and Connie Jean Schlieker and her husband, Daniel; siblings, Joann Logan, Joyce McCracken, and Charles Watson; grandchildren, Brandy Jackson, Stacey Reed and her husband, Jason, and Andy McCormick and his wife, Lori; and five great-grandchildren whom she adored, Katie Jackson, Ava and Mia Reed, Layla and Keaton McCormick.  

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 52 years, Connie “Mack” McCormick. 

Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the church.
