Mildred L. ‘Millie’ Godecker Freiberger, 86; of Floyds Knobs

A funeral Mass for Mildred L. “Millie” Godecker Freiberger, 86, of Floyds Knobs, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church, 3033 Martin Road, Floyds Knobs, with burial in the church cemetery. She died Monday, June 22, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany, surrounded by her family.

She was a long time member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church and she managed the kitchen at St. Mary of the Knobs School for many years. She was known by many for her famous pie baking skills. She was born Dec. 24, 1922, to the late William J. and Elizabeth Blackman Godecker in Floyd County.

Survivors include her children, Jeanette E. Griffin and her husband Louis, Paul E. Freiberger, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, Sister Mary Sue Freiberger, O.S.B., Tony L. Freiberger and his wife, Carrie; grandchildren, Todd Adam and his wife Kim, Scott Adam and his wife, Holly, Dana Freiberger, Paul Freiberger, III, and his wife, Melissa, Sarah Herley and her husband, John, Elizabeth Ernstberger and her husband, Seth, Ashley Freiberger (Jason Kavgazoff), Nicole Freiberger, Elyse Freiberger (Jonathan Eessalu); and great-grandchildren, Max and Gracie Freiberger, Aiden Herley, Augustus “Gus” and Solomon Ernstberger, Jillian Kavgazoff, Matthew, Michael, Maggie, Sean, Aaron and Stephen Adam, and Ian Hoops.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Freiberger, Sr., and brothers, Hubert and Marion “Jeff” Godecker.

Visitation will be at Generations Funeral Home, New Albany, from noon to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church or School.
