John ‘Jack G’ Giffin; 59, Vietnam War Army veteran
Funeral services for John “Jack G” Giffin, 59, of Sellersburg, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Scott Funeral Home’s North Chapel, Jeffersonville, with burial in Sellersburg Cemetery, Sellersburg. He died Friday, June 26, 2009, at his home.
He was born in Staten Island, N.Y., was a caregiver for his son, Joshua Giffin, a member of the Bonnie Sloan American Legion in New Albany, an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a Philadelphia Eagles and University of Louisville football fan.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Giffin, of Sellersburg; son, Joshua Giffin, of Sellersburg; his father, John Conner, of Sellersburg; his mother, Rose Conner, of Sellersburg: brothers, Arthur Giffin and his wife, Helen, of Woodbury, N.J., and Randy Conner of Pekin; sisters, Darlene Kiesler and her husband, Greg, of Louisville, and Denise Guffey and her husband, Joel, of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister-in-law, Lisa Conner, of Sellersburg; stepson, Shannon Williams, of Sellersburg; stepdaughters, Angela Brazzel, of New Albany, Sarrah Geier, of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Michelle Klugh, of East Greenville, Penn.; a host of nieces and nephews; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Conner; and his sister-in-law, Sharon Conner.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the 1st Calvary Company 8. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
