Alma Mae Bowman

Alma Mae Bowman, 85; of New Albany

Funeral services for Alma Mae Bowman, 85, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Kraft Funeral Services, Charlestown Road Chapel, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Lincoln Hills Health Care in New Albany.

She was the widow of William E. Bowman, a native and lifelong resident of New Albany, and was a retired nurse with Floyd Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Graceland Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Hellman and husband, David, Georgetown, Billie June Henley and husband, Dick, of Huntsville, Ala., and Mary Jane Bruner and husband, John, of New Albany; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Lisa Bowman Tate, of Palmyra; three sisters, Mary Lou Heinz and Linda Berger and husband, Bob of New Albany and Dorothy Bryant and husband, Jerry, Jeffersonville; and sister-in-law, Jo Gibson, of San Antonio.

In addition to her husband, she is also preceded in death by her parents, John S. and Louise Gibson, a son, William Michael Bowman and a brother, Stu Gibson.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Graceland Baptist Church, 3600 Kamer Miller Road, New Albany.
