Herbert A. Fischer Jr., 79; of New Albany

Funeral services for Herbert A. Fischer Jr., 79, of New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at Kraft Funeral Services, Charlestown Road Chapel, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services.

He was a native of Evansville and retired from Standard Oil of Indiana. He was a member of the New Albany Country Club, Jeffersonville Elks Club, Indiana University Hoosier 100 and Alumni Clubs, 50-year member of the Hadi Shrine in Evansville and longtime volunteer and member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Bush Fischer; four children, Janet Jenison and husband, Jim, of Evansville, David Fischer and wife, Melissa Rapp, of St. Louis, Melissa Cotner and husband, Lee, of New Albany and Steve Fischer and wife, Shannon, of Georgetown; grandchildren, Erin Whipple and husband Drew, Andrew and Alex Jenison, John, Kristen, Kara, Ashley and Allie Fischer and Chelsea and Stephanie Cotner.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday

Family requests expression of sympathy of sympathy take the form of contributions to Providence Retirement Home.
