E. Allen Schuler, 64; Navilleton


— Funeral Mass for E. Allen Schuler, 64, Navilleton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9. at St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Church Cemetery. He peacefully passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, surrounded by his wife and children.  

He was born Aug. 12, 1949 in New Albany, to the late Norman J. and Anna Mildred Stickler Blackman Schuler. He was a builder, developer, C.P.A. and founder and owner of ASB, LLC.  He was also past president of the Home Builders of Southern Indiana where he was awarded the Builder of the Year in 1997 and past president of the Home Builders of Louisville where he was awarded the Builder of the Year in 1999. Allen was a devoted and active member of St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Church. He was a selfless philanthropist and will be remembered and missed by his family, friends and acquaintances.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Janet Atkins Schuler; children, Janelle Schuler Chew and her husband, Mike, David Schuler and his wife, Amy, Renee Schuler Compton and her husband, David, Laura Schuler Shade and her husband, Bill, and Mark Schuler and his wife, Erica; brothers, Robert Schuler and his wife, Cindy, and Tony Schuler and his wife, Linda; and grandchildren, Ryan, Allison, Brooke, Eric, Kaleigh, Cole, Claire, Karsen, Hattie, Harper, Millie, Livia, Will, Nick, Mack, Lucy and Lincoln.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Blackman.   

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany.
