David C. Esarey, 85; Jeffersonville

— Funeral services for David C. Esarey, 85, of Jeffersonville, will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Scott Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

Dave was born on April 4, 1928, in Alton, Ind., to the late Joseph C. and Rose Elizabeth Esarey. He was the Past President of the American Institute of Banking and retired from INB Bank after working for many years at Clark County State Bank in Jeffersonville. He was a member and Lifetime Deacon of Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville where he served as treasurer for many years. He was a founding Director of Treyton Oak Towers in Louisville, Past Director of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library, a member of the Jeffersonville Optimist Club, Past Board member and treasurer of Walnut Ridge Cemetery and served on the Clark County Chamber of Commerce. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Robert Esarey.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Esarey, Jeffersonville; three children, David C. Esarey M.D., Bloomington; Mary Beth Sisco and her husband William, Jeffersonville; Jeffrey Esarey and his wife Jenna, Jeffersonville; a brother, Sol “Tack” Esarey and his wife Colleen, Georgetown; eight grandchildren, Lara Schillizzi (Dominic), Kaitlin Coleman, David T. Esarey (Alexandra), Jordan Sisco, Jonathan Esarey, Carrie Rose Sisco, Curtis Esarey, Rachel Esarey; and one great granddaughter, Gianna Schillizzi.  

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to Walnut Street Baptist Church in Louisville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
