James K. “Jim” Parrish, 81; of Memphis

Funeral services for James K. “Jim” Parrish, 81, of Memphis, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home and Crematory in Henryville, with burial in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. He died April 19, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany. 

He was born February 16, 1932, in New Albany, the son of Truman Parrish and Opal Frances (Waggoner) Daes. On March 9, 1953, he married Marjorie A. (Guernsey) Parrish. He was a 1950 Henryville High School graduate and served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Amerigas in Charlestown as a truck driver, delivering gas for 35 years. He was a member of Christ Community Church in New Albany and the American Legion in Henryville.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, camping, boating, skiing and tinkering.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie A. Guernsey Parrish; three daughters who referred to him as “Daddy,” Susan Welch and her husband, Mike, of Otisco, Diane Lewellen and her husband, Lonnie, of Pekin and Jo Ann Sillings and her husband, Guy, of Floyds Knobs; eight grandchildren, Amy Butts and her husband, Brent, Emily Heil and her husband, Eric, Seth Caudill and his wife, Calena,  Rebecca Jones and her husband, Cannon, Andrew Lewellen and his wife, Valerie, Joanna Trueblood and her husband, John, Stefanie Crockett and Elizabeth Crockett; and13 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lee, Bobby and Wesley Parrish.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
