Marie Hamrick, 76; of Jeffersonville

A celebration of the life og Marie Hamrick, 76, of Jeffersonville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Pleasant View Baptist  Church, Hibernia. She went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born on June 28, 1936, in Parkville, Ky. She was a retired employee of ICI Americas, and was a member of Oak Park Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, wife, aunt and friend to many.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Hamrick; her children, Becky Iuliano and her husband, Gary, Greg Crowe, Eric Melton and his wife, Terri, Troy Melton and his wife, Tracy, Steven Hamrick and his wife, Joanna, Jana Schmitt and her husband, Dave, and Cynthia Hamrick; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Sue Cook; brother, Denny Cook; sister-in-law, Wanda Cook; lifelong friend, Joyce Conn; and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Gladys Cook; her brothers, Walter Cook and Bob Cook; sister, Shirley Cook; and son, Brian Hamrick.

She bravely fought her battle with melanoma for more than two years. She continued to fight the battle for others by donating her body to the University of Louisville for melanoma research.
