Funeral services for John Paul Chovan, 71, New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Kraft Funeral Service, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, with entombment in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Norton Hospital, Louisville.
He was born Oct. 7, 1942 in Canton, Ohio, to the late John and Anna Fados Chovan. He underwent his architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, achieving both a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Masters in Community Planning. He was currently Vice-president at Arrasmith, Rapp, Judd and Chovan Architects and Planners where he has worked for more than 43 years.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary Caufield Chovan; children, John M. Chovan and his wife, Stephanie, Ann Barnett and her husband, David, and J. Scott Chovan and his wife, Shelley; and grandchildren, Abby and Josh Chovan, Austin, Alexander, and Tyler Barnett.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
