Calon “Junior” Tanner, 70; Henryville

— Funeral services for Calon “Junior” Tanner, 70, Henryville will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Adams Funeral Home & Crematory in Henryville with entombment of cremains at Mt. Zion Cemetery at a later date. He passed away at Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at his home.

Born Dec. 14, 1943, in Crailholt, Ky., he was the son of the late Calvin Waddell and Valda (Bishop) Tanner who survives in Louisville.

Junior was a 1963 Durrett High School in Louisville and served in the National Guard for six years. He retired from CSX Railroad after working 38 years and was currently working at Adams IGA in Henryville.

He loved his kids and grandkids, enjoyed working and watching television.  

Other survivors include four children, Dana (Rusty) Irish of Henryville, David (Teresa) Tanner of Henryville, Karen M. (William) Potts of Columbia, Tenn., Jessica (Jeffery) Rowley of Palmyra; nine grandchildren, Christina Smith of Clarksville, Samantha Smith of Henryville, IN, Nick Madore of Tennessee, Cady Madore of Tennessee, Calon Tanner of Germany (United States Air Force), Kendra Tanner of Henryville, Cameron Tanner of Henryville, Nick Rowley of Palmyra, Hannah Rowley of Palmyra; five great grandchildren, Jackson Fruchtenicht of Clarksville, Stuart Fruchtenicht of Clarksville, Lee Fruchtenicht of Clarksville, Douglas and McKenna Sanford; one sister, Shirley Ann Adams of Sheperdsville, Ky.

One brother, Billy Tom Tanner, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, from 4 until 8 p.m. and after noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.
