Clarence Louis ‘Johnny’ Johnson, 86; New Albany

— Funeral services for Clarence Louis “Johnny” Johnson, 86, New Albany, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Kraft Funeral Service, Charlestown Road Chapel, New Albany, with full military honors. Burial will be held later in Arlington National Cemetery. He died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, in New Albany.

 He was born July 30, 1927 in New Albany to the late Harvey E. and Mary Gelbach Johnson. He was an engineer with General Electric Company from 1956 until 1976 and retired from the American Sterilizer Company in 1992. He was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy class of 1952 with a degree in Engineering. He proudly served his country in both World War II and the Korean War in the Navy and Air Force. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948 as a Seaman 1st Class and Midshipman from 1948 until 1952. He also served in the U.S. Air Force as a Captain from 1952 until 1956. He was an active member of the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Southeast Christian Church.  

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy L. Lanham Johnson; three sons, Steven L. Johnson and wife, Dona, Daniel L. Johnson and wife, Lucy, and David L. Johnson and wife, Denise; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Frederick Johnson.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
