A funeral Mass for Mary Frances Newton Koetter, 72, of Borden, will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Starlight, with burial in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. She died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012.
A long-time member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight, she was co-owner of Koetter Woodworking, Inc. in Borden. Unsurpassed in humility, generosity, kindness, integrity, and genuineness, she was a living example of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, team member, friend, and neighbor. Selflessly devoted to her family and community, she touched the lives of many people.
She was born Aug. 29, 1940, in Marion County, Ky., to the late Francis X. and Elenora Donahue Newton. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Larry, Wayne, and Tony Newton.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas C. Koetter Sr.; sons, Randy Koetter and his wife, Sis, Rick Koetter and his wife, Shirley, Jerry Koetter and his wife, Trisha, Brian Koetter and his wife, Sarah, and T.J. Koetter and his wife, Lisa; brother, Michael Newton and his wife, Sharon; sisters, Jane Wiseman, Carol Smith and her husband, Allen, Kate Lasley and her husband, Randy, Helene Hart and her husband, Ken, Rita Becht and her husband, Chuck, and Joan Dohoney and her husband, Jack; and sisters-in-law, Pam, Joyce, and Donna Newton; grandchildren, Amy Pennington and her husband, Seth, Brittany Pennington and her husband, Ryan, Casey Bickers and her husband, Mark, Brandon Koetter, Shane Koetter and his wife, Kramer, Shana Orman, Courtney Jenney, and Dakota, Chase, Skyler, Mason, Emily, and Molly Frances, Garrett, Alexis, and Whitney Koetter; and great-grandchildren, Sadi, Emme, Parker, and Pierce Pennington, Harley, Noah, and Reese Koetter, and Zane White.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Oct. 12, and 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, at the Forest Discovery Center at Koetter Woodworking, Inc., 533 Louis Smith Road, Borden. Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, is in charge of the arrangements.
