Nellie L. Mayfield, 90; of Lanesville


— Funeral services for Nellie L. Mayfield, 90, of Lanesville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at St. Jon’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville, with burial in Edwardsville Cemetery. She died Friday, March 22, 2013, at her home. 

She was born June 18, 1922, in New Albany, the daughter of Thomas and Myrtle Burgess Frank. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Lutherana Church in Lanesville. 

Survivors include her husband of almost 64 years, Harold Mayfield, whom she married on March 26, 1949; a son, Steven Mayfield and his wife, Sharon, of Utica, Minn.; three daughters, Betty Dietrich and her husband, Wayne, of Morton, Ill., Delores “Dodi” Akridge and her husband, Paul, and Judy Hiser and her husband, Richard, all of Corydon; one sister, Juanita Freeman, of New Albany; 14 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Julie Mayfield; a granddaughter, Karen Dietrich; a brother and two sisters.

Visitation at Gehlbach and Royse Funeral Home in Corydon will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to St. John’s Lutheran Church or School or to Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
