Richard ‘Rick’ Joseph Johnson, 50; Henryville

— A Mass of Christian burial for Richard “Rick” Joseph Johnson, 50, a life long resident of Henryville, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Henryville, with burial in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at University of Louisville Hospital with his family and friends by his side.

 Born Aug. 24, 1963 in Dillsboro, he was the son of Paul Huber and Helen Pribble Johnson and his father, Buck Johnson who raised him. He was a 1981 Henryville High School graduate and an Ivy Tech graduate. He was employed at Essroc Cement in Speed, and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, past member of the Rural Membership Water Corporation in Henryville, and served on the Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years where he was past chief. Rick’s most important thing in his life was spending time with his wife, son, daughter, family and friends, hanging out at his shelter house on his property that he built, going to Florida with his family and hanging out by the ocean, and riding his motorcycle.

On Oct. 24, 1992 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Henryville, he married Karen K. Reul who survives in Henryville. He is also survived by his two children, Steven R.  Johnson, Henryville, and his fiancО , Anna McGuire, Underwood, and Sarah Johnson, Henryville; mother-in-law, Darlene Reul, Henryville; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Pat Greenwood, Henryville, Kathy Cleveland and her husband, Jack, Henryville, Kim Brishaber and her husband, CJ, Henryville, and Kevin Reul and his wife, Ebbie, Scottsburg; and several nieces and nephews and his cat, Clair.

 He was preceded in death by all of his parents, a brother, Randy Huber, sister, Rhetta Greenwood, father-in-law, Bob Reul, and his dog, Socks.    

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Adams Funeral Home & Crematory, Henryville, and after 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given in memory of Rick to The Floyd County Animal Rescue League (this is where his dog Socks that he had for 13 years was rescued) c/o Adams Funeral Home & Crematory, 209 S. Ferguson St., Henryville, Indiana 47126.
