Helen “Granny” Stymest

89; Panama City, Fla.

— A memorial service for Helen “Granny” Stymest, 89, Panama City, Fla., formerly of Charlestown, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. She died  Saturday, July 20, 2013.

She was born the daughter of Oscar Wilson and Mary Alverda Arnold on April 6, 1924 in Louisville. She is the oldest daughter of 13 children. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. She was a devoted caregiver to her family and friends.

She is survived by her two children, Mickie Haggard and her husband, Jimmy, Terry Gravatt and her husband, Rich; six brothers and sisters, Rosie Bishop, Inez Collett, Pat Wilson and his wife, Winnie, Betty Lou Cole and her husband, Glen, Esther Lee, Wolfgang (Jerry), and Joey Lagerholm (Doug); eight grandchildren, Tammy Meade, Shannon Shields, Jamie Haggard, James P. Stymest III, Joey Stymest, John Paul Stymest, Richard Gravatt III, and Alicia Gravatt Holton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Peabody Stymest of 53 years and her son, Jimmy Stymest.

 Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
