Robert R. ‘Bob’’ Davenport, 75; of Bowling Green, Ky.

Robert R. “Bob” Davenport, 75, of Bowling Green, Ky., died April 22, 2013, in Bowling Green, Ky.

He was born June 9, 1937, in Harlan County, Ky., to Charles and Mary Davis Davenport. A former resident of Jeffersonville and Louisville, he was a retired insurance broker and investment counselor. He was past president of the Louisville Fil-AM Society, former Jeffersonville Jaycee and Little League coach and a former member of Cook Memorial United Methodist Church. He loved composing and listening to country music.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Davenport; two sisters, Shirley Davenport Applegate and Betty Davenport Young Monroe and her husband, Frank; one brother, Curt Davenport and his wife, Debbie; two daughters, Linda Horneman and her husband, Russ, and Cindy Davenport Humbert; one stepson, Andy Ford, of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Audry Keegan and her husband, Ryan, Joseph Horneman, Lance Humbert and Leslie Brooks and her husband, Adam; two great-grandchildren, Addison Keegan, and Genevieve Brooks; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Davenport; brother-in-law, Stan Applegate; and great-nephew, Jared Samples.

Cremation was chosen. A private family memorial service was held at Graceland Baptist Church, New Albany, with interment at National Military Cemetery, New Albany with a U.S. Marine Honor Guard and flag ceremony.
