Robert “Bob” Herman

82; of New Albany

— Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Herman, 82, of New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Newcomer Funeral Home, New Albany, with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park, New Albany. He died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012.

He was born on Feb. 25, 1930, in New Albany to the late Ervin and Elnora Salesman Herman. He was united in marriage on Feb. 25, 1947, to the love of his life, Norma Jean Barker. Bob lived for his wife, children and grandchildren. Along with being a devoted family man, Bob was dedicated to his career as a firefighter. He worked for the New Albany Fire Department for more than 20 years, rising to the rank of fire chief.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Beverly Rice and her husband Frank, Connie Holland and her husband Charlie and Linda Yates (her late husband, Paul); grandchildren, Holly, Tony, Michelle, Mark, Andrew, Brooke, Nikki, Christy, Chris, Scott, Tracy, Robin,  Amanda and Paula and 22 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Norma Jean (Barker) Herman; and brother, James Herman.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundayat the funeral home.
