Funeral services for Morris Elzy Middleton, 70, of New Albany, will be at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at Howard Missionary Chapel Church, 1715 East Market St., New Albany. He died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Green Valley Care Center.
He was born Feb. 27, 1942, to Omer and Georgia Middleton in New Albany. He attended the Floyd County Public School System and graduated in 1960. He was a member of Howard Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and a Vietnam Army veteran. He was raised in St. John’s Lodge #8, F&AM (PHA) New Albany in 1974 and Constantine Consistory #25, Indianapolis. He was a 33rd degree of the Scottish Rite and a past grand master, MWPH-Grand Lodge of Indiana. He was a retired manager at G.E. Appliance Park in Louisville and served on the board of directors for the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library,
He is survived by his wife, Vera (McPheeters) Middleton; daughter, Myah McPheeters; brothers, Rev. Omer, Rev. Curtis, William, Ronald, Gregory and Clark Middleton; sisters, Edna Lee, Deborah Gales, Wanda, Rev. Jacqueline and Rev. Portia Middleton; grandchildren, Anthony White, Cecil, Caleb and Caden Price; sisters-in-law, Wilma Offutt, Lavone Mukes and Dorothy Lindsay; brother-in-law, James McPheeters; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Melvin Middleton.
Visitation will be from 2 to to the time of the funeral Saturday, with Masonic services at 4 p.m.
