Edward J. Schwartz

87; of Clarksville

 A funeral Mass for Edward J. Schwartz, 87, of Clarksville, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Jeffersonville, with burial in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. He died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at his home with his loving family by his side.

 After 30 years he retired from General Mills. He went on for another 20 years of service as Clark County Reserve Officer. He was an active member of the Jeffersonville Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight. Additionally he was an active member of American Legion and Conservation Club. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances M. “Frankie” Schwartz (Frederick); son, Edward L. Schwartz and wife, Kathie, of Detroit; daughters, Mary Kay Faith and husband, Jim, of Clarksville, Susan Shaughnessy and husband Mike, of New Albany, and Linda Vittitow and husband, Irvin, of Elizabethtown, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Melissa Mattingly, Nicholas Hampton, Leaha Julius, Caroline Shaughnessy, Steven Schwartz, Ashley Schwartz, Madeline Vittitow, and Meredith Vittitow; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Mattingly and Parker Mattingly.

 He was preceded in death by parents, Leon X. Schwartz and Katherine Schwartz, brothers, John Schwartz M.D., Francis L. Schwartz, and Joseph X. Schwartz, and sister ,Rosemary Schwartz.

 His family wish to thanks for the support of his Hosparus team for their loving care.

Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, at E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home, Jeffersonville.

 In lieu of flowers and gifts in memory to Hospice Southern Indiana.
