Salvatore Francis Giuffre

79; of Jeffersonville

— A memorial service for Salvatore Francis Giuffre, 79, of Jeffersonville, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Jeffersonville.  He died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, with his family by his side.      

   He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a retired state editor for 33 years with United Press International and most recently worked for 12 years after retirement at Pep Boys in Clarksville. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him.

   He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lucille; six children, Lauri Giuffre (Donnie Eldridge), Keith Giuffre and his wife, Tammy, Dawn Smith and her husband, Les, Melanie Collins and her husband, Scott, Corey Giuffre, and Kyle Giuffre; seven grandchildren, Lesa Rose and her husband, Ronald, Dylan, Jayd and Joey Collins, Zach Giuffre, Alex Giuffre, and Austin Smith; and one great-grandson, Jak Rose. 

Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, at the church.

Scott Funeral Home, Jeffersonville, is in charge of arrangements.
